Projects

Over the years we have carried out several projects. It started in 2000 looking at the way women are written out of history. We took a selection of Edinburgh women who deserved to be recalled.

the second was a walk down the Water of Leith looking at the history of the river from the evidence left behind (2005)

In 2007 we joined the anti-slavery bandwagon and looked at how women were affected by slavery both as slaves and abolitionists taking this theme into the modern era.

In 2009 we looked at the Women's suffrage movement. 100 years since the the long march from Edinburgh to London, 90 years since the vote was given to women over 30 and 80 years for 21.

In 2010 we toured a number of graveyards and taking inspiration from some of the headstones embarked on "Dead Interesting Women" and researched what we could of their lives. (This is still under construction)

Our current project is "Excuse My Dust" which looks at some Scottish Women writers who were well known in their own time but have been largely forgotten now. (This is still under construction)
